Gavit named College Station’s electric utility director

Glenn Gavit has been named the director of the City of College Station’s electric utility, City Manager Bryan Woods said Friday. Gavit has served as interim director since Timothy Crabb retired in May. Gavit joined College Station Utilities as the electric substation and metering superintendent in 2019 and was elevated to assistant director in 2020. He was promoted to deputy director in 2024.

Ringer Library and on the City’s website at cstx.gov. The public is invited to review and make comments on the proposed budget. Comments may be presented in writing or in person at the public hearing or may be made in writing to be mailed or delivered to the City Manager, College Station City Hall, 1101 Texas Avenue, College Station, Texas, 77840, prior to the end of business on Wednesday, July 23. Eagle-Longmire Roundabout Work Starts Wednesday
05/23/2025
Beginning Wednesday, the Eagle Avenue-Longmire Drive intersection will be partially closed to construct a roundabout funded and built by the ILTexas Aggieland High School. For phase 1, Longmire will be one-way northbound between Starling Drive and Lakeshore. Southbound Longmire traffic will be rerouted to the State Highway 6 frontage road via Bridle Gate Drive. The estimated completion date is July 11.

Notice of Intention to Issue Certificates of Obligation

The City Council of the City of College Station will consider the passage of an ordinance or ordinances authorizing the issuance of one or more series of interest bearing certificates of obligation (the “Certificates”) in the principal amount not to exceed $78,000,000 for paying all or a portion of the City's contractual obligations to be incurred in connection with constructing, improving, acquiring and equipping the following projects: (i) streets and roads including related drainage, landscaping, signalization, lighting, pedestrian improvements and signage related thereto; (ii) designing, constructing, equipping and installing parks and recreation equipment and park improvements for Texas Independence Ballpark at Midtown; (iii) information technology and communication equipment; (iv) facilities and equipment maintenance facility relocation and improvements; (v) improvements and extensions to the City's combined waterworks, sewer and electric systems including distribution, transmission, system lines, lift stations, pumps, storage tanks, metering, wells, plant improvements, and acquisition of interests in land for such purposes; and (vi) the payment of fiscal, engineering and legal fees incurred in connection therewith.
