The Lincoln Recreation Center offers a wide variety of amenities and services aimed at improving the quality of life of College Station residents. Residents can take advantage of services in the areas of youth programming, senior services, special events, and community outreach. The facility includes two gymnasiums, game room, fitness room, multipurpose rooms, splash pad, and a 13,000 square foot covered pavilion. 

HISTORY

Originally constructed as the A&M Consolidated Negro School, the Lincoln Center is located at 1000 Eleanor in W.A. Tarrow Park. The facility has been used at one time or another as a neighborhood center, recreation center, senior citizen's center, maintenance shop, and was formerly the headquarters for the College Station Parks and Recreation Department. The center now provides a variety of recreational and social services to the citizens of College Station.

    OKINAWAN KARATE • REGISTRATION THROUGH FIRST CLASS DAY
    Martial arts develop discipline, self-defense skills, and proper judgment about when to use your skills. The non-contact training program emphasizes the traditions of Karate-Do (the way of karate). Instructor Chiyo Spaulding is a former AAU national champion who has taught children martial arts for 20 years, producing several nationally-ranked competitors. Caregivers are welcome to enroll with children. We won't have class on June 19.

    Are you looking for a safe and supervised environment for teens? Then join us for a night exclusively for them to celebrate the end of the school year with fun games! Test skills and win prizes by playing video and board games, minute to win it, and athletic competitions. Refreshments are available. Admission is $1 per person; registration is required by May 15.

    FULL-DAY SUMMER CAMP • REGISTRATION BEGINS APRIL 3
    The camp offers daily activities to kids ages 6-15, including outdoor recreation, performing and creative arts, character and team-building exercises, local and out-of-town field trips, and more. Breakfast and lunch are provided, but campers should bring a morning and afternoon snack. Parent orientation for first-time campers is on May 9 and June 20 at 6 p.m. Camp won't be held June 19 or June 26-July 4.     Campers develop athleticism, refine fundamental skills, and enhance their skill sets at all positions. Coaches emphasize fundamentals, team play, basketball IQ, and provide an in-depth analysis of conditioning and footwork. Campers also fine-tune shooting techniques, ball-handling skills, and team play tactics while developing positive attitudes. Caretakers for 3-5-year-olds must stay for the camp’s duration, and caretakers for 6-13-year-olds are encouraged to join them.

    LET'S CLICK PHOTOGRAPHY • REGISTRATION: APRIL 3-JULY 3
    Are you an inspiring photographer that wants to explore art through a camera lens? Join photographer Deliah Childs to explore photography fundamentals, including camera settings, indoor and outdoor lighting, backgrounds, and editing. Discover how to make pictures, not just take them. Childs has experience photographing all subjects, including models, outdoors, and weddings. Participants must bring a camera.

    LET FREEDOM RING: ORAL HISTORY DOCUMENTARY NIGHT
    Explore and celebrate the compelling variety of Black history in College Station with a screening of “Our Independence Day: Celebrating the Black Founding Families of College Station.” The documentary features oral history interviews with citizens sharing their life experiences. Several College Station streets were named for these families, whose thriving neighborhoods contributed positively to College Station. Food trucks and vendors will be available.

    JUNETEENTH FREEDOM WALK
    Join us for the 2.2-mile legacy walk from the Lincoln Recreation Center to the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum to observe Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers led by Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger landed in Galveston with news that the war had ended and the enslaved were free. Storytelling immediately follows the walk.

    W.A. Tarrow Park was named in honor of the late principal of the old Lincoln High School. The adjacent Lincoln Recreation Center provides a variety of recreational and social services, including an indoor gymnasium, 1-mile lighted jogging trail and a playground.

    RENTAL INFORMATION

    FACILITY RENTALS
    Rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis and will not be held without proper documentation and fees. Reservations can be made by calling 979.764.3779 or by visiting the Lincoln Recreation Center, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Cash, credit card or check accepted. Checks should be made payable to “City of College Station.” 

    PAVILION RENTALS
    Pavilions are rented per day. Reservations are all-day and on a first-come, first-served basis. Fees must be paid in full at the time of reservation. Deposits will be refunded if facilities are left clean and free of damage. Reservations canceled within seven days prior to the rental date will incur a $20 cancellation fee. Pavilions may be used if they are not rented, but no access will be allowed to kitchens or restrooms.

    PAVILION RENTAL DEADLINES
    Monday-Thursday rentals must be made no later than 12 p.m. one business day prior to the desired reservation date. Friday-Sunday rentals must be made no later than 3 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the desired reservation date.

    DEPOSITS
    A security deposit is required for rentals. Portions or all of the deposit will be forfeited if damage, extra maintenance, or extraordinary cleanup occurs as a result of rental. Deposits will be refunded on the following conditions: (1) terms of your rental have been met, (2) facilities are left in good condition, or (3) cancellation procedures have been followed.

    CANCELLATION & REFUNDS
    Cancellation refunds more than 10 days: If the rental is cancelled, in writing, at least ten (10) days in advance of the originally scheduled date, a full refund of fees and deposits, including security deposit, will be returned to customer.
     
    Cancellation refunds less than 10 days: If the rental is cancelled, in writing, less than ten (10) days but more than 48 hours in advance of the originally scheduled date, deposits, including security deposits, will be forfeited by the customer in favor of the City.
     
    Cancellation refunds less than 48 hours: If the rental is cancelled, in writing, less than 48 hours in advance of the originally scheduled date, all fees and deposits, including security deposits, will be forfeited by the customer in favor of the City.
     
    Cancellation due to inclement weather: At the sole discretion of the City, if the event cannot be held or rescheduled due to inclement weather, fees and deposits, including security deposit shall be refunded to customer.
     
    Deposit refund post event: If the facility is left to standard and required keys (if applicable) are returned within 24 hours, the customer's deposit will be refunded. 

    All refunds are processed within 30 days of request by check. No cash refunds will be issued.
