Fire Extinguisher Training is offered only to adults ages 18 and older.
Fire Extinguisher Training includes a brief overview of fire behavior and fire extinguisher usage, followed by hands-on practice extinguishing fires.
Classes usually last from 30-60 minutes depending on the number of participants.
CSFD does not train youths in fire extinguisher use, as there is a high risk associated with decision making in young minds. It is more likely that an adult will make the appropriate decision to leave a building when the fire is too big, where children may forget to exit and may get injured or killed trying to extinguish a fire. For youths below the age of 18, the primary emphasis in regards to live fire is to get out of the building and immediately call 911.
